Ice-Fishing Line Regulations
No more than 7 ice-fishing lines in any combination of devices may be used, unless otherwise noted in Special Regulations. No person shall operate an ice fishing line that has more than 5 lures or baits in total or has more than 15 hook points in total.
Under the new regulations, hand lines and tip-ups are both defined as "fishing lines" and anglers are only allowed to use no more than seven at a time. Thus, an angler is using tip-ups only, he or she can have up to 7 actively working at any one time.
Crappie must be 10 inches to keep and there is a 25 fish daily limit.
Andrew Cuomo that allows anglers to have three rods, instead of two, in any body of freshwater in New York. Being able to use an additional pole will increase a fisherman's chances of catching a fish.
The minimum size limit is 28 inches total length or 20 inches alternate length.
Any legally caught fish(except Carp, goldfish, lamprey larvae and round goby) can be used as bait in NY, they must count towards your daily limit and they can't be transported over land.

Can you use treble hooks for trout in NY?
Possession of hooks with a gap greater than a half inch are prohibited. The use of lures on these waters with treble hooks, with certain exceptions, are also banned.

More conservative statewide fishing regulations were recently enacted for these species to help provide sustainable quality fisheries in waters across the State. As of April 1, 2022 the new statewide regulations are: Sunfish: 25 per day, no minimum size, no closed season.
Keeping the 9-10" fish is usually better for a fishery than keeping just the biggest you catch because there is more meat on them... I hate it when people criticize others for keeping 8-9" crappies but then they put an 8" male bluegill in their bucket. More meat on an 8-9in crappie and it wont hurt the fishery at all.

As a general rule, everyone 16 years or older must have a valid freshwater fishing license to fish in New York State. This includes: Anglers fishing on private waters not open to the general public. Anglers that do not keep the fish that they catch.
The new regulations are: Daily creel limit of five trout per day with no more than two longer than 12 inches statewide and for reaches categorized as Wild or Stocked in effect from April 1 through Oct.

If you are allowed to use them, perch are an excellent bait for big catfish, pike, muskie, and even bass. You can use them either live, dead, or as cut bait.
